I welcome you warmly to the website of St Stithians College, a prominent and transformative South African school – one that inspires excellence and makes a world of difference. St Stithians offers a synergy model of boys’ and girls’ schooling on one campus.
Our students experience a holistic and relevant education, grounded in values that reflect our identity as a Methodist School. We educate thinkers, leaders and citizens for today and tomorrow. We seek to be a College of welcome and wonder, of gratitude and service.
Our values framework is defined by the Honour Code and Saints Character. Our Honour Code inspires us to Honour God, Honour others and Honour self. Our Saints Character is expressed through the opportunities created for our students and staff to "Know Yourself, Be Yourself, and Make Your Contribution".
We are committed to academic excellence and support across the range of student ability, including a values-based leadership curriculum and extensive sports and cultural programmes. Students and staff are involved in organised community engagement activities and partnerships.
We are affiliated to the Independent Examinations Board (IEB), the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) and to a number of international education organisations, including Round Square.
We are a College of seven schools, an advanced learning facility located on an expansive green campus in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs. Our campus is naturally beautiful and a place of environmental awareness and action. Our teachers are the most important asset of the College, and St Stithians prides itself on its staff development opportunities and ability to attract top quality educationalists. Each day, 2 600 students attend the co-educational Junior Prep, the Boys’ Prep, the Girl’s Prep, the Girls’ College and the Boys’ College – making us the largest independent school in Southern Africa.
Having entered the College through the gateway and grounding of the Junior Prep, our students experience single-sex schooling combined with opportunities for interaction amongst boys and girls. This synergy model enables efficiencies and collaborative practices within our educational enterprise while optimising distinctive boys’ and girls’ spheres of learning.
Our sixth school is Kamoka Bush School, located outside Modimolle in Limpopo Province. This is a residential outdoor education facility on a game farm, where our girls and boys grow and develop through a curriculum of experiential learning and leadership.
Our seventh school takes place on Saturdays at the St Stithians campus: the Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy runs an enrichment programme for up to 1 100 students and 1 200 teachers from schools in greater Johannesburg. In addition, St Stithians employs 35 teacher interns – a contribution to creating the next generation of teachers in South Africa.
The College motto "One and All" is a simple and powerful phrase that speaks of the importance of each individual in our community, our celebration of unity and diversity, and our commitment to adding value through a St Stithians education.
