Founded ten years ago by the St Stithians Foundation to make a difference for students and teachers beyond the College, the Academy has grown substantially in scale and impact over the years.
We are proud of these achievements and are indeed inspired to do even more. Thandulwazi is now a significant contributor to the advancing of Maths and Science education through our interaction with students and teachers in a large number of Gauteng schools, and we have a presence in Limpopo province.
Recognising the broader challenges in the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science in South Africa, Thandulwazi will continue to develop its offering of unique programmes for students, teachers and prospective teachers through the Saturday School, in-service teacher development training, and the internship programme.
At Thandulwazi we are mindful that our success in implementing our programmes depends on the collaboration and joint efforts of benefactors and stakeholders who have a great interest in improving the quality of education in South Africa, especially in the fields of Maths and Science. We rely on the institutional support of St Stithians College, on the commitment of our staff, and on the generosity of spirit of donors and supporters.
As the Head of Thandulwazi I wish to express my sincerest gratitude and indebtedness to everyone for the unflinching support and cooperation we have received since Thandulwazi was established and, further, to invite everyone to support our programmes in all possible ways.
